Nothing is more powerful than a group of people working creatively together.
I’ve experienced that kind of collective creative energy for decades as a writing teacher: a room full of writers, writing, golden energy and deep attention swirling in the air between us, lifting us all.
That’s why we’re experimenting with these impromptu group co-writing times on Zoom during The Visceral Self intensive for embodied writing (if you missed yesterday’s post, the comments are incredible).
To note, you do not need to be following along in the Visceral Self to join a co-write. All topics welcome.
So what is a group co-write?
It’s simple. We meet in the Zoom room and write together for an hour.
Things to know:
We’ll open with a poem (I’ll read one out loud) just to set the mood
I’ll offer a simple writing exercise for those who want one or writers are welcome to work on their own projects or free write—whatever works
Everyone will be muted
Cameras on or off, your choice
Chat will be open for introductions and questions
Write, write, write
Zoom will close at 1 PM (course you can log off sooner if you need to) but starting at 12:50 participants will be invited to share a snippet of something that sparked from the writing session in the chat
Co-writes are for paid members of Writing in the Dark—you can manage or upgrade your subscription anytime.
