Memoriam in Minneapolis
Today in Minneapolis, Renee Nicole Good was killed by an ICE officer. She was thirty-seven years old. She was a U.S. citizen. She was a mother. She was a legal observer. She was not the target of any arrest.
Say her name. Say it cleanly. Say it without the fog of propaganda.
Early this morning, neighbors blew whistles to warn neighbors—because this is what our city does when under attack, when fear moves faster than time. Federal agents swarmed Renee Good’s vehicle. An agent reached for her door. Shots were fired. Three. Her car rolled forward only a few feet before crashing. A life ended there, in broad daylight, under the watch of cameras and neighbors and truth itself.
Good’s mother said, “She was probably terrified.” She said, “Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.” She said, “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving, and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”
