Hi, friends. I’m at AWP and it’s totally overwhelming! But, no matter how overwhelming this writing conference might be, it is always, above all else, pulsing with one thing: dreams.
It makes me wonder though, about what it really means to have a writing dream. And I’m reminded that I like to revisit my own regularly, to make sure that what I say or think I want is still real to me.
Which makes me wonder about you: What’s your writing dream? Have you revised it lately to better reflect what’s now real to you, and what no longer feels aligned? A writing dream can be as grand as publishing a bestseller (someone’s gotta do it!) or as simple as sitting with a hot tea and a notebook every day. But to steer us in the right direction, a dream must be felt and named. Only when we let ourselves feel and name the dream can we orient ourselves toward it.
Tell us about your writing dreams in the comments. Don’t be shy. It’s okay to want things out loud. Indeed, it helps make them happen.
