Writing saved my life, so I teach writing as if it might save yours. That’s why Writing in the Dark is place where, as one writer said, we can “write ourselves into becoming.” What about you?!

For my 45th birthday, my kids made me a book of Momisms. It made me laugh and cry to hear my own voice coming back to me from them in such an intentional way. A few more excerpts of that booklet are in the rest of the photos in this post.

I need something like that now from all of you! A way to help me hear my own voice coming back to me from my decades of teaching writing, especially these last few intense years of Writing in the Dark.

Could you be so kind this morning as to share with me, in any way that feels good to you, something you’ve learned here at Writing in the Dark?

I’m looking for:

Bits of things I’ve said or that you’ve encountered here that have stuck in your head (or heart)

Ideas here that have changed your writing or changed the way you think about yourself as a writer, or the act of writing itself

Subtle (or not so subtle) shifts in your understanding of what it really means to be a writer

Breakthroughs in your writing that came directly from “writing in the dark” together!
