What can you do when people misread, misinterpret, misconstrue, misremember, or even totally misunderstand your writing, and judge you according to those misperceptions?

First, though, I want to thank you so much for all of your warm wishes for Jon’s health. He’s feeling a lot better on a drastically revised medication regimen from his Mayo doctors. This adult-onset asthma (which is the closest we are to a diagnosis) is still a mystery, and he has more tests coming, but in the meantime he can breathe so much more easily (even despite the absolutely terrible air quality we have in Minneapolis right now due to wildfire smoke from Canada—also, sending love to you, Canada; we know these fires are frightening). Anyway, thank you for thinking of Jon. Please keep good thoughts coming as we navigate what’s next.
