Good morning friends!

This prompt is inspired by the idea that at this time of year--celebrated by so many different cultures in different ways--the threshold between living and dying, between one world and the next, is nearer, the veil between worlds thinner. What a rich, fertile soil in which to dig for our writing! To set the stage for this prompt, I invite you to read Dorianne Laux's gorgeous and provocative poem, Death Comes to Me Again, A Girl (scroll down). Then, consider for a moment this veil between life and death, between those who are here now and those who have come before or not arrived yet. Think of the dividing lines in your own life, the thresholds between your pre-birth, your life, and whatever comes next. No matter your spiritual beliefs or lack of, there is no question that something changes when life leaves the body (or enters it). But what?
