You shine so bright in your authenticity! So amazing to see it celebrated and to see you succeed because of it. Beautiful interview. Warm, professional, wise, real— lucky, lucky us! Maybe being a visionary is like embodied writing? You are caught being so utterly yourself you stamp the world that way. Congratulations!!!

Your generosity and dedication are inspiring, and I mean that in the visceral sense, of breathing it in deeply. You are a gift to all of us who read and subscribe to Writing in the Dark. Thank you for sharing this conversation and - as always - your truth.

I cannot explain - and have not even fully realized yet - what kind of an impact you have made on my writing and how I view myself as a writer. Enormous. I think it has to do with your innate kindness, empathy, intuition. You're a wonderful teacher. But there's this extra thing. This gentle realness. I had to miss a week and I FELT that I missed it. Because being in your writing world is good for my heart. Like Emily says, lucky, lucky us. You are a real jewel.

I wish you everything that brings you the abundance you so deserve. With love and gratitude.

Diana. There's a lot I could say about your beauty and artistry as a human. I love that you note my gentleness because I care about that quality in myself a lot. Also, that you can wish for abundance, which I lacked in my childhood and early motherhood, and suffered for. Not that suffering is required to enjoy the possibility of abundance, but for me they are inextricably linked.

Thank you for being in this party. I am so grateful for you!

The more I read you Jeannine, the more I understand why I am drawn to writing in the dark, this community and your beautiful, generous soul, and writing. Also nice surprise to be mentioned here… :) glad what I had said resonated with you. I still remember the day I locked myself in my bathroom to write my morning pages and then scribbled the sentence “writing is the only home I have ever had.” For so long I had been searching for my ‘home’ and when I realized it had been with me all along, the relief and joy I felt was life changing. Big hug and much love

What a wonderful interview and chat between two true shining lights in this Substack space. Jeannine I am so drawn to your work and your style, I actually feel sad that I haven’t yet had the time or capacity to fully engage. It can be overwhelming yet I know I will learn so much here, not just in my writing but in my heart 💕🙏

First, thank you, thank you. Second, it can be a slow, iterative, stop-start process, and that's just fine. There is no "too late" or "not enough." I am really glad you are here.

Thank you, we all need that reminder sometimes. It’s so easy to get sucked into the maelstrom of expectation and demands on ourselves and mostly it is on the edges where we flourish. Where we have space and self-compassion 🫶

Hi, Paulette! I am so glad it was helpful to frame it that way and I will try to remember to repeat that because new people are always joining us. You have placed this comment under the interview with Sarah Fay, and I bet you want it under the Week Seven post, which is here: https://writinginthedark.substack.com/p/words-mean-more-than-what-is-set

"Stay open and loose and connected to joy. Otherwise, what are we doing?" I often have to be reminded of this. I can stifle my own creativity by trying to outthink what it is I'm trying to accomplish on Substack. My bottom line reason has to be the joy of connection through writing. I'm learning that if I focus on writing well and connecting well that all the other issues I think are important become incidental and usually take care of themselves. This was a wonderful interview. Thank you Jeannine and @Substack Writers at Work.
