Write With Me In Person!
Writing in the Dark Comes to Life At Beautiful, One-Of-A-Kind Camp Wandawega, August 18-22
Come write with us. this summer. Registration for Writing in the Dark: The CAMP is open!
I want to write about the power of a human hand—the lifetimes we hold between between fingers and thumb. The sublime tenderness, the deadly wrath. I want to write about being fourteen and in love and crying all summer to Air Supply. I want to write about the terror of birth, the blood and beauty, the mysterious truth that being alive hovers so close to violence. I want to gather words like shells, like agates, like acorns, like sticks, and rub them against each other until they ignite and show me the world as it is, then paint the flames until I can see the ancient questions in my own heart and sing them, finally, out loud.
Writing—the way we do here at WITD, for fun and as if it might save our lives— will be both our work and our play at Writing in the Dark: The CAMP this August 18 - 22, at beautiful and one-of-a-kind Camp Wandawega in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. This lovingly restored historic small retreat is nestled amid the trees on a twenty acres along the shores of Lake Wandawega, with a variety of accommodations full of charm and history, from the traditional old bunkhouse to sweet vintage cabins and lovely platform tents, each with its unique charm and history. Each with its own piece of Wandawega’s own storied past from its Prohibition-era roots to the beloved, Wes Anderson-esque getaway it is today. It is the perfect place to write ourselves into being, again.
Get all the details here—and be sure to read all the way through the FAQ. CAMP is half full as of this morning, Monday, February 17, so please reach out soon with any and all questions. We’re happy to help however we can, including helping you determine if CAMP is right for you.
We can’t wait to write with you this summer.
😲. This is the only thing in my life ever that has made me want to visit the USA.
No way!! Camp Wandawega is literally 20 minutes from my home! I’ve followed Tereasa and David’s projects on IG for years and have been so inspired by what they’ve created over there. I’ve always thought it would be a great place for a writing retreat but haven’t heard of anyone offering one until I saw your email in my inbox! I’d LOVE to attend, but it’s a big year of investing in my daughter’s food truck business she’s starting after she graduates high school in June. Do you think you’ll offer a retreat there again if all goes well?
